The most common problem with printing is the quality of the print out, which can be very poor, this is shown by horrizontal white lines through the printout, these white lines are due to the ink being clogged up in the nozzles, some models of printers have the print heads built into the ink cartridges, this is ok when you want to replace your ink cartridges, but what if your cartridge is still quite full?
This sometimes could be solved by cleaning your print head, using a cotton swob to rub some alcohol onto the surface of the print head, as alcohol is a solvent this will usually help to disolve any ink build-up that maybe clogging the print head, after cleaning the print head with alcohol, use some paper wipes to gently wipe away any excess ink of the print head, when you have done this and everything is dry, turn on the printer and run the printer's cleaning process, check the manufacturers recommendations on how to do this.
Diagnosing a slow computer
One of the common problems relating to your computer running slow, could be to many start-up items running when logging into windows, one way of checking this is by using the microst utility, this comes with all version of windows from windows 98, although not included in windows 2000, but can be run on a windows 2000 machine.
To bring up the utility you need to click on the start menu then on the run box, in there tpye msconfig, (it doesn't matter if you type it upper or lower case) click ok and you should then get the system configuration utility window pop up, as a short cut you can press the windows key and the letter r on your keyboard, to bring up the run box.
Click on the start-up tab at the top,the list of items shown here is what is loaded when logging on your computer the more items listed the longer it will take to logon, as it processes all these items, you will find a lot of these you wont require, carefully go through the list, do not take the ticks of any relating to your antivirus or firewall software or any other that you feel you may need.
Upon unticking some of these items the configuration utility will ask you if you want to restart, you can either select restart now or exit without restarting.
If you still have problems after performing the above, such as your internet running really slow, then it is possible that you could be infected with Malware, please
